How are we doing? It's survey time! We recently surveyed our teaching team and saw some great improvements in teacher satisfaction year-over-year. Now it's your turn! Let us know what we are doing well and where we can improve.

PURCHASE:

It's time to purchase your child's yearbook! Here's the link to the TreeRing site (passcode:101672853450376) where you can create an account or login with last year's credentials, and complete the following:

• Purchase your student's hard or soft cover yearbook, a portion of which will go to fund important programs at Polaris.
• Purchase a Recognition Ad, which will be included in EVERY yearbook. Recognitions don't have to be just for your student, feel free to buy a dedication for your favorite teacher, admin, or staff member! 100% of these sales go to PTO-funded activities, paras and the electives program. You can buy an ⅛ of a page for $20, ¼ of a page for $40 and ½ of a page for $60.
• You can also complete the complementary two-page spread, which will be exclusive to your students yearbook.
  

ADDITIONALLY:

• We need your photos! Please email photos to yearbook@polarispto.com with captions, grade/teacher and helpful file names.
• If your student is a 5th grader, please upload a baby picture of them as soon as you can.

On Friday March 14, Polaris will celebrate the start of spring by participating in Holi, the Indian Color Festival! Students will be asked to wear white t-shirts to school that day to see the colors best. The PTO has generously paid for our students to participate in the color fun.

What: Holi Celebration - Celebration of the Start of Spring

Students will learn at about Holi in the classrooms and then they will head outside. Each child will receive a packet of colored powder. We will do a count down and toss them at the same time to celebrate the start of spring.

When/Where: Friday 3/14 at 3:00 on the Polaris Playground

What to know: Please dress your child in a WHITE t-shirt for school. Parents are welcome to attend. It is really fun to watch!!

Last month DPS Food Services began selling sugary snacks that were not part of the free school lunch program directly to students every day. This created challenges for our teachers with classroom behavior, theft, and student nutrition. Based on parent feedback at the February PTO meeting, we worked with Principal Lopez to curb the sale of these items.

Moving forward, only two versions of Baked Lays will be available to purchase on Fridays. Our hope is that the students no longer find the options as appealing and this will encourage DPS to no longer sell snacks to children, preserving more equitable access to food for all students. However, if you would like your child to purchase snacks, you can load their MySchoolBucks account.

Congratulations to all of our Read-a-thon winners! Your students should have received their prizes this week and the winning classrooms will celebrate this afternoon. We appreciate your ongoing support.
